Huh. That picture was taken in May of 2009, but I swear that same amazon box is sitting on the kitchen table. The plant on the kitchen sill is a little bigger, though.

Anyway, I’m going to Kansas! To knit mittens (real ones, not human ones). This may be crazy, but I’m pretty excited about it.

And then N and M come home for Thanksgiving!

Everything seems to be coming up tulips. I think I may need to stay home tomorrow to scrub the kitchen in celebration.

I went early this morning to get a mammogram (all is fine) and on the way back stopped at possibly the most hipster cafe in all of Oakland for a cup of exceptionally good coffee and a rather excellent scone.

So — on the whole I think it’s a pretty good day!

  1. If you’ll have a car, perhaps we could meet in my old university town (Lawrence, the “Berkeley of the Midwest,” they used to say). But I could be forced to come to Harveyville, too…

  2. Or we could meet at the Kansas City airport. And/or I could drive you to H-ville. Okay, I think I’m done with hijacking your comment box.

  3. Ha! When I was at KU, we called Lawrence “Boulder on the Plains.” And of course KU was “Harvard on the Kaw.”

Really sorry I am so booked while you are here 😦 I am paying for having been out of the office for a couple of days this week — two of my big projects are on fire and not in a good way.
